Video editing
Keep every cut, review copy, and note under one version number, so the next pass starts from the thing the client actually approved.
Tools
Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Descript, Frame.io, Dropbox Replay
Outcomes
Every version tied to a named approval • Notes attach to the frame itself • Missing assets named before the cut stalls • Approved sections left unedited
Documentation
Instruction-ready detail below
Editing a video job is mostly waiting. The editor needs a logo, the client needs a music bed cleared, and the sound mixer needs a locked cut that does not exist yet, so a rough cut sits at eighty percent while four people email each other. The version that was approved disappears into a folder called finals_new_v3, and the next pass opens the wrong file. This workflow numbers and dates every version, keeps the review copy and the working copy in one project, and posts the assets a cut is still missing the moment it is marked ready. Comments attach to a frame and a version, so a note about a title at two minutes cannot be misread as a note about the ending. A transcript is generated for each cut so captions and voiceover start from the words. The editor still decides the running order, and the producer still decides when a cut is allowed to leave the building.
